Obituary for Alan E. Steinocker

Alan Steinocker, age 76, of Summit, SD, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 at his residence.

Memorial services will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Hope Lutheran Church in Summit with Reverend Janet Miller officiating.

Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 pm, Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.

Interment will be at Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Summit.

Alan Erwin was born March 19, 1945 in Watertown, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran church in Mazeppa township. He was raised on the family farm in rural Summit and attended Sunnyside country school through 8th grade, and graduated from Summit High School in 1963. After high school he went to Northern State College where he met Sheryl Jorgenson. They were united in marriage in 1968. After graduation he went on to teach and coach in New Effington for three years. Farming was Alan's calling so the family moved to rural Summit where he resided the rest of his days. After farming, he went on to work at Concrete Materials and West-Con until his retirement in 2017.

Alan was a lifelong outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In retirement he could be found working in the yard, completing the daily crossword puzzles and conversing with friends.

Alan is survived by his wife, Sheryl; his children, Stacey (Corey) Amdahl of Summit, SD and Brett (Meghan) Steinocker of Brandon, SD; six grandchildren; Jeffrey, Dylan (Hallie), Andrew and Matthew Amdahl, and Eston and Ambry Steinocker, as well as two great-grandchildren; Theodore and Henry Amdahl. He is also survived by two siblings, Shirley (Harold) Binde of Summit, SD and Donna (Richard) Gulbranson of Woodbury, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
