Allen John Currey was born August 25, 1951, to Chester and Beverly (Reed) Currey in Watertown, SD. He grew up in the Watertown and Castlewood, SD area. He graduated from Castlewood High School in 1969.

Growing up he worked with horses, mostly POAs and Appaloosas. He owned an Appaloosa mare that gave him a beautiful Leopard Appaloosa stallion colt.

Throughout his years he worked for various farmers in Hamlin County. He worked as the Cleaning Crew Manager for Dakota Poultry for a few years, was a delivery driver for Snow Sales in Watertown, and worked for many years at Firestone Tire Co. where he was the large truck and tractor guy. After being injured at Firestone when a tractor tire blew up on him, he enrolled in the Human Services class at LATI. After graduating he moved his family to Chamberlain, SD to work for HSA there. He worked for them for many years until ill health forced him into retirement.

He remained in Chamberlain, living with his brother, Mike, until Mike died in 2019. Allen moved to Mitchell, SD to be closer to his son Jason and his family. His last trip home to Watertown was to see his second oldest son get married and he beamed with pride!

On February 25, 1972, he married Elsie Mae Mohr and to the union were born four sons, Jason Allen, Justin Aaron, Jeremy Austin, and Jordan Alex. Allen's initials were AJC, and his boys’ are all JAC!

Allen is survived by his sons: Jason, wife Kay and grandson Dorian and dozens of foster granddaughters; Justin and wife Missy, daughter Mallory, great-grandson Otto, and daughter Taylor; Jeremy and wife Carole, son David and daughter Erin; and son Jordan. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Elsie; brother Randy (Louise) Currey; sister Marilyn (Harold) Ebel; stepmother Dixie Currey; step siblings, Jason and Kim; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
