Obituary for Amaryllis "Amy" Frantz

Amaryllis (Amy) Frantz, age 91, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, October 22nd at Prairie Lakes Hospital.

Amaryllis Yvonne Ellyson was born on January 25th, 1929, to Sherman and Beryl (Beresford) Ellyson in Aberdeen, SD. Her father was a chiropractor and her mother was a stay at home mom for the 7 children born to the Ellyson family.

Amy graduated from Aberdeen High School and moved to California to work. She met and married Jack Clark and they had two sons, Philip and Roger. Amy moved back to South Dakota and met and married Louis Stein of Watertown, SD, and became step mom to Steve and Diana. Four more children were born to this union: Beth, Joe, Kelly and Chris.

Following her marriage to Louie, she met and married Donald Frantz. They spent their retirement years camping and traveling until Don passed away.

Amy was an avid reader and cook. She had a gifting for cooking wild game and fish. She also was great at winning contests. She won a trip to Florida and South Carolina along with many other local contests.

She loved her Baptist upbringing and relied upon the Lord through many sad and happy times. Her favorite Bible scripture was Psalm 40.

Amy is survived by her children: Philip Stein of Aberdeen, SD; Steve Stein of Sioux Falls, SD; Diana (Rich) Berry of Brookville, OH; Beth (Kerry) Ascher of Spencer, IN; Chris (Carol) Stein of Watertown, SD; 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Amy is preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, her husbands and three sons: Roger Stein, Joe Stein and Kelly Stein.

A Celebration of Life for Amy will take place next summer.
