Obituary for Arlen A. Lundgaard
Arlen Lundgaard, age 70, of Watertown, SD, passed away Friday, February 21, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Gracepoint Wesleyan Church in Watertown with Reverend Jim Biswell officiating.
Please note: Visitation will be 5-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the Gracepoint Wesleyan Church.
Burial will be at a later date.
Arlen Arnold Lundgaard was born on July 14, 1949 to Melvin and Esther (Nelson) Lundgaard in River Falls, Wisconsin. He grew up in Ellsworth Wisconsin, graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1967 and attended college in River Falls.
Arlen and Barbara Beynon were united in marriage on April 18, 1970 at Our Saviors’ Lutheran Church in Beldenville, Wisconsin. After residing in Beldenville for the first two years of marriage, they moved to and settled in Watertown, South Dakota.
He was employed at Minnesota Rubber for 15 years and USPS for 30 years.
Arlen loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed Bible study, playing cards, and collecting coins and guns. He had a knack of making friends everywhere he went and visiting for hours. Arlen loved cheering on his Wisconsin teams, the Green Bay Packers and Badgers, but watching his grandchildren grow up over the years was his highlight!
Arlen is survived by his wife, Barbara of Watertown, SD; his children, Missy (Brad) Gisselbeck of Castlewood, SD, Jeffrey (Jodi) Lundgaard of Watertown, SD, Holly (Jared) Everson of Watertown, SD and Emily (Tony) Mischke of Altamont, SD; his 14 grandchildren; and his siblings, Galen (Laurie) Lundgaard of Ellsworth, WI, LeRoy (Ella) Lundgaard of Hager City, WI and Nancy Lundgaard of Hager City, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Esther Lundgaard; his brother, Gary Lundgaard; and great-niece, Olivia Lundgaard.
