Obituary for Arthur W. "Art" Wensing
Arthur Wensing, age 92, of Watertown passed away Friday, October 2, 2020 in Estelline, SD.
Funeral mass will be 10:30 am, Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Watertown with Father John Fischer and Father Michael Wensing as celebrants. Please note: A public viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the church starting at 9:30 am.
There will be a private visitation for the family.
Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mason Block, Blare Wood, David Reilly, Jeff Wensing, Craig Nelson and Eric Block.
Arthur "Art" William Wensing was born February 14, 1928 to Joseph and Clara (Ronke) Wensing in Florence, South Dakota. He grew up on the family farm outside of Florence. Art attended Esterly Grade School and Florence High School.
Art and Patricia “Pat” Foley were united in marriage on June 2, 1953 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Florence. They lived and worked the farm at Florence until 1964 when they moved into Watertown. Art was employed at Quadee Rubber, since it opened, until his retirement.
Art is survived by his wife, Pat; his children, Nancy Wood of McFarland, WI and Douglas Wensing of Watertown, SD; his two grandchildren, Jamie (Eric) Block and Emily Wood; his five great-grandchildren; and his brother, Glenn Wensing of Watertown, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Arnold, Marcella, Evelyn and Eileen.
