Obituary for Audrey Heathcote

Audrey L. (Kranz) Heathcote, age 79, of Watertown, SD, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Monday, May 16, 2022, with a rosary starting at 9:00 am, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Watertown with Father John Fischer as the celebrant.

Music will be by Andrew Harkin, Chris and Kara Barrett and Jane Rokusek.

Pallbearers will be Tom Harkin, Sam Harkin, Mike Meland, Andrew Harkin, Merlin Heathcote and Mark Heathcote.

Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Watertown, SD.

Audrey Lucille was born October 1, 1942 in Watertown, South Dakota to John J. and Pauline T. (Bohls) Kranz. She grew up in Watertown and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School.

Audrey was united in marriage to Ronald Neal Heathcote on April 27, 1963 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Watertown. Ronald passed away on April 16, 2016. The couple would have celebrated 53 years of marriage.

Audrey worked with her husband at Duling Optical and Edwards Optical. She also cleaned at Holy Name Center for 23 years.

She enjoyed traveling with her family, having coffee parties with her sisters, playing pinochle, and doing jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed cooking and baking and was known for her apple pies. Audrey had such a love of her grandsons and was very proud of them! The presence and actions of babies and children always put a big smile on her face!

Audrey is survived by her two daughters, Lorrie (Allen) Clarke and Lisa Ritter both of Watertown, SD; twin grandsons, Ross and Rex Ritter; her siblings, Joyce Meland of Watertown, Carol Harkin of Brandon, Joe (Carol) Kranz of Watertown, Mary (Sid) Morrison of Sioux Falls, Sharlene (Bruce) Howard of Arvada, CO, Jeanne (Gary) Gackstetter of Sioux Falls, Myron (Lisa) Kranz of Sioux Falls, Jim (Brenda) Kranz of Redfield and Paula Kranz of Sioux Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Donna Mae and Nancy Lea Kranz; brother, John A. Kranz; brothers-in-law, Terry Harkin and Jerry Meland.
