Obituary for Bonnie Fae Dailey

Bonnie F. Dailey, 81, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Neighborhood at Brookview in Brookings.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2022 at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.

Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2022 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Richard Fox officiating. Music by the Funeral Church Choir accompanied by Mary Fox.

Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD.

Pallbearers will be Michael Paul Tressa, Andrew Tressa, Nicholas Lanning, Alan Lanning, Lucas Lanning, Travis Dailey, Wyatt Dailey, Zachary Dailey, Jacob Hawkins and Brock Dailey.

Honorary Pallbearers will be all Bonnie’s granddaughters, spouses of grandsons, and all her great grandchildren.


Bonnie Fae Dailey was born to Albert and Margaret (Prange) Winter on March 21, 1941 at her grandma and grandpa Prange’s house in rural Bemis, SD. She attended grade school through the eighth grade at Lake Alice District #20. She lived with her foster parents, Rev. Edrie and Charlotte Regier for three years while she attended Clear Lake High School, graduating in 1959. She then attended additional courses at Mount Marty College and Lake Area VoTech in Watertown.

On April 23, 1959 she married Micheal Dailey at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clear Lake. The couple had seven children. Micheal and Bonnie lived in the communities of Marietta and Madison, MN before moving to Clear Lake for three years. They moved to Watertown for a few years before moving to Henry, SD and lived there until 2003 when they returned to Watertown.

Bonnie's most important and fulfilling job was being a mother of seven! Bonnie was employed as a patient representative, cashier and switchboard operator at Memorial Medical Center. She also worked as a receptionist at H&R Block, a personnel services secretary at Prairie Lake Hospital and was then co-owner/business manager at G.S. Sanitation. She was on the Board of Directors for the South Dakota Solid Waste Management.

She was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Promenaders Square Dance Club, Bootscooter Dance Club and Northeastern Shrine Women's Auxiliary.
Bonnie enjoyed having her children and then grandchildren bring her dandelions, which became her favorite flower.

Bonnie is survived by her children, Natalie Lanning of Watertown, SD, Michele (Mike) Tressa of Forty Fort, PA, Ramona Dailey of Kansas City, MO, Richard (Amanda) Dailey of Watertown, SD, Joseph Dailey of Prior Lake, MN, Tammy LaFramboise of Brookings, SD and Rocky (Wendy) Dailey of Brookings, SD; 28 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Micheal; foster parents; her grandparents; two sisters, Judy O’Neill and Shrylee Raml; two grandsons, Cody Dailey and Ryan Kolden.
