Briana Marisa Vazquez, daughter of Andres and Dawn (Hartwig) Vazquez was born on March 6, 1995 in Watertown, South Dakota. She grew up in Watertown with her brothers and many cousins that she considered ‘sisters’ and had a close and loving relationship with them. Briana attended Watertown public schools and graduated in 2012 from Watertown High School. After graduation, Briana went to Mexico to live with relatives and learned to speak Spanish. She loved getting to know her Mexican family, meeting new friends and learning more about her heritage. Briana obtained her Mexican citizenship, before returning to Watertown, and had no problem letting you know that she was Mexican and very proud of it.

Briana moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she attended and graduated from Southeast Tech with an Associate’s Degree in Human Resources. She was very proud to be on the Presidents List at Southeast Tech. Briana worked at various jobs and was currently employed at PAve in Sioux Falls.

Briana loved her brothers, Brandon and Bryson and her sister-in-‘love’, Jada. But the light of her life was her son, Korbyn. Korbyn was born July 7, 2015 to Briana and Artorias Ballou. Everything Briana did was for Korbyn.

Briana had a zest for life that compared to no other! She feared nothing, she laughed at everything and lived every moment to its fullest!

Briana met Hassan Abdul-Malik in Sioux Falls and the two fell in love! They made each other a better person. Briana and Hassan shared a love like no other as they left this world together and entered Heaven.

Briana is survived by her parents, Andres and Dawn Vazquez of Watertown; her son, Korbyn Vazquez (his father, Artorias Ballou) of Sioux Falls, SD; her brothers, Brandon (Jada) Vazquez of Aberdeen, SD and Bryson Vazquez of Watertown, SD; her grandmother, Judy Hartwig of Watertown, SD; her uncles and aunts, Adriana Vazquez of Mexico City, Omar (Maribel Trujillo) Vazquez from Omaha, NE, Jose Manuel (Angelica Martinez) from Mexico, Alan (Rebecca) Hartwig of Crooks, SD, Sharie Bekaert of Watertown, SD, Mark (Dawn) Hartwig, of Watertown, SD, Scott (Cathee) Hartwig of Canistota, SD and Brian (Sarah) Hartwig of Spearfish, SD; her many cousins; and friends.

Briana was preceded in death by her grandfathers, José Refugio Vazquez and Orville Hartwig; and her grandmother, Amparo Heramdez.
