Obituary for Daniel S. "Danny" Resen
Daniel "Danny" S. Resen, 61, of Florence, SD, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Mayo Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2020 at New Helgen Lutheran Church in Florence. Dorothy Anderson will be the organist.
Please join the family for lunch at the Florence Community Center immediately following the service.
Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Burial will be in the Spring at Goodhue Cemetery in Florence.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Class of 1976.
Active Pallbearers will be Nicole Koeb, Chad Byer, Jacob Fox, Jason Sumner, Jenna Silber and Jessica Derby.
Daniel Soreng Resen was born in Webster, SD on September 3, 1958, to Arthur and Mary Anne Resen. He grew up on the family farm near Florence, graduated from Florence High School in 1976 and attended Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown.
He was a member of New Helgen Lutheran Church, and worked on the farm as long as his health allowed. He kept a close eye on crops and especially enjoyed harvest time and being outdoors on the 4-wheeler.
Dan was a quiet, peaceful giver and, with his brother, helped care for his aging mother. He liked to tease his many nieces and nephews and even sometimes his little sisters. Dan enjoyed driving around to meet people.
He loved most when he ran into old friends, but never failed to make new friends along the way.
Dan is survived by his mother, Mary Anne Resen of Florence, his brothers, John of Yakima, Washington, David (Maribeth) of Omro, Wisconsin, and Andrew of Florence; his sisters, Diane (Gary) Byer of Florence, Debbie (Rob) Fox of Sioux Falls, Beth Sumner (fiancé Dave Reilly) of Florence, Julie (Alan) Personius of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Jane (Randy) Derby of Estelline.
He was preceded in death by his father.
