Obituary for David W. Longworth, D.D.S.

David William Longworth
September 11, 1929—April 12, 2023

A devoted husband to Jacquelyn for nearly 70 years, a devoted father to his seven children, an Orthodontic Artist, a Korean War Naval Fighter Pilot Hero.

David loved and was fascinated by his family, from his eclectic ancestry to the present and the distant relatives in between.

He was a lover and collector of the arts. He saw value and beauty in most everything and his contrasting collections portrayed that perfectly. He loved music—singing, dancing or quietly listening to and appreciating the gift of music at home.

He loved his Church. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Church, held many positions and supported the Church on a variety of levels.

David was born with gifted hands and shared that gift in his Orthodontic practice. The challenging cases were most often referred to Dr. Longworth, where he would put his artistry, knowledge, vision and experience to work. He went to great lengths ensuring access to affordable services for all who desired a “beautiful smile,” as was his mantra.

He was an adventurer. He loved flying. He experienced the world at a young age during his time in the military, and that desire for expansion overflowed into his civilian life, as he traveled with family during their childhood and continued on with Jacquelyn as they shared an active life together.

David was a lover of life and lived it to the fullest possible. He was never found idle, except in his last couple of years. He is now free of the limitations of his physical body and is at peace. He is filled with joy.

We miss him dearly already.

With gratitude,

The Longworth Family
