Obituary for Delores M. Maag

Delores Maag, age 88, of Florence, SD, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the Avantara Milbank Care Center.

Visitation and prayer service is cancelled due to precautionary measures.

Funeral mass is postponed until further notice.

Pallbearers will be Randy Maag, Bill Crooks, Pat Maag, Mark Maag, Ken Wolfe and Jamie Maag.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Delores Maxine Stahlke was born in Spicer, Minnesota on March 20, 1931 to Herbert and Eunice E. (Erickson) Stahlke. She grew up at Henry, South Dakota, completing her education and graduating with the Henry High School class of 1949. Delores furthered her education at Mitchell Business College then went onto working for Dr. Thompson, optometrist, in Watertown.

Delores was united in marriage with Donald F. Maag on June 8, 1955 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Florence, South Dakota. After their marriage, Delores became a loving mother and housewife helping to build the family farm and raising their seven children. Delores was active in the Blessed Sacrament Church of Florence as both part of the Altar Society and teaching CCD.

Don and Delores enjoyed dancing. The couple put on many miles in both the car and while dancing!! After many years of battling Alzheimer’s, our mother is now finally dancing in Heaven!

Delores is survived by her husband, Donald of Florence, SD; seven children, Randy Maag of Watertown, SD, Marianne (Bill) Crooks of Ft. Collins, CO, Patrick Maag of Watertown, SD, Mark (Laurie) Maag of Florence, SD, David Maag of Wallace, SD, Gerald Maag of Watertown, SD and Jeanne (Ken Wolfe) Maag of Watertown, SD; her sister-in-law, MaryAnn Stahlke of Watertown, SD; and a very special friend, Stephanie Dahle.

Delores will be missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Scott Maag, his children Scott Jr. & Brooklyn; Kelsey Maag (Ryan Boehm)- their children, Nathan & Audrina; Jill Maag (Tyler Soulek) and their children Olivia and Everly; Matthew & Mette Crooks, with their children Naomi & Jacob; Marcus Crooks, Lacey Maag, Heather & Garett Schimmel; Jamie & Annie Maag with their children Lauren & Lincoln; Melissa & Jared Tschakert with their children-Kyra & Jackson; Ashley & Mike Engelhart-with their children Colby & Aspen; Joe Maag, Ethan Maag, Regan & Drew Verdouw and Bethanie Maag and her son Tucker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Joseph E. Maag; her daughter-in-law, JoAnn Williams; great-granddaughter, Kendra Boehm. Three brothers, James, Robert and Larry Stahlke, and a niece Cathleen Stahlke.
