Delwin Floyd Voelsch was born on January 21, 1940 to Floyd and Maythel (Jellis) Voelsch in Watertown, SD. He grew up around the Watertown area and lived for a short time in San Jose, California. He married Bonnie Johnson on February 18, 1967. They were blessed with 2 children Lisa Dawn (deceased) and Michael Delwin.
Delwin worked in building construction for a number of years then in gravel crushing until his health forced him to retire in 1988.
He loved to hunt and fish. Every October 31st he and his brothers and friend would head for the Black Hills to deer hunt. He spent many hours out at the lakes catching walleye and perch. When he wasn't fishing, you would find him in his garage with Gunsmoke on and fixing something. He was very good at figuring out what was wrong with just about anything and fixing it. There wasn't much he couldn't fix.
Delwin also loved to spend time with his grandchildren, watching action movies and telling stories of his adventures, most often stretching the details a bit to make it more interesting. His granddaughter was grandpa's girl. Nobody could put her ponytail in like grandpa.
Delwin is survived by his wife Bonnie, his son Michael of Castlewood, SD, his son-in-law Murray Rauscher, his brothers Gene (Bonnie) Voelsch and Gary Voelsch of Watertown, his grandchildren, Chris Kannas, Trevor Rauscher, Braden Rauscher, Megan Voelsch, and Riley Voelsch, his great grandchildren, Ava Kannas and Silas Benson.
He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Maythel Voelsch, his sisters Marian Flanigan and June Voelsch, his daughter Lisa Rauscher, daughter-in-law Valerie Voelsch, sister-in-law, Sharon Voelsch, grandson Zachary Voelsch, his niece Carrie Voelsch Schaack, and mother-in-law and father-in-law Lester and Gladys Johnson.
