Obituary for Donna Mae Zirbes
Donna M. Zirbes, age 92, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Jenkins Living Center.
A funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 18, 2021, with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service, at the Holy Name of Jesus Church in Watertown. Father John Fischer will be the celebrant.
A private family burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Watertown.
Urn bearers will be Donna's grandsons: Tyler Lamb, Brian Denman, Brett Denman, Scott Denman, Travis Weber, Jarod Weber, Eric Tesch and Austin Tesch.
Honorary urn bearers will be her granddaughters: Christi Walz, Rebecca Weber and Kara Tesch.
The family requests memorials be given to the Lions Club of Watertown, P.O. Box 575, Watertown, SD 57201-0575 for the visually impaired program.
Donna Mae Zirbes was born on February 9, 1929 to Thomas L. and Bertha L. (Schiernbeck) White in Watertown, SD. She grew up in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School. She was then employed in the office at the local Swift and Company for some time.
On August 16, 1952 she married James H. Zirbes at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. After their marriage, Donna dedicated her life to being a homemaker. Mr. Zirbes passed away on March 20, 1991.
Donna completed many college classes at Mount Marty between 1993 and 2007. She was a SHINE volunteer for many years and worked with the TCE Income Tax Preparation Assistance Program.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, and her sister Ramona Raml.
Donna is survived by her daughters, Joan and her husband, Harley Lamb of Clark, Carol and her husband Jerry Denman, and Karen and her husband, Richard Weber of Watertown, and Lynne and her husband, Phillip Tesch of Goodwin; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
