Obituary for Dorothy Vaux
Dorothy R. Hallauer Vaux went to her heavenly home on Friday, October 4, 2019 in Watertown, SD.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Richard Fox as the celebrant.
Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Watertown.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, with the rosary to follow, on Monday, October 7, 2019 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Dorothy was born in Florence, South Dakota on June 9, 1921. She graduated from Watertown High School. She worked at Montgomery Wards, Rozum Brothers, and the County Treasurer’s Office.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John O. Vaux, whom she married on January 27, 1945. She was also preceded in death by her parents, George and Angela Hallauer; her brother, Damian; her sisters, Mary Dobie and Jane Halstead; her foster brother, Donald Burke; as well as her loving son-in-law, Ronald Rukstad.
She is survived by her daughter, Jonette Rukstad; her grandchildren, Lori (Steve) Cohen, Michelle (Von) Priggel, Jeff (Jen) Rukstad, Kevin (Melissa) Rukstad and Jenny Rukstad; 13 great-grand children; one great-great grandchild; her dear sister, Donna Sue Jensen; a very special cousin, Donna Briggs; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She loved Watertown and all those of whose lives she touched. She will be remembered most for her witty sense of humor. Her love and commitment to her family will be treasured forever
