Douglas Lee Jackson
10/04/1957 - 3/29/2023
Doug was born October 4, 1957 in Aberdeen, SD. He was the 2nd son of Robert & Marlene (Bittner) Jackson. He lived in Mansfield, SD until 1964 when the family moved to Watertown.
Doug had a personality all his own and life was never dull growing up with him! He had a small group of close friends who were often over at the house shooting hoops, playing pool, eating cookies & listening to records. He collected thousands of pop bottle caps over the years from local establishments and eventually gave his collection to a kid collecting bottle caps for charity. He was kind to everyone he met and loved to play cribbage.
Doug married and had 2 boys and his family moved back to Watertown for a few years. Eventually he moved to Minneapolis where he lived for many years.
Doug is survived by his 2 sons, Jared (Spearfish, SD) & Jacob (Watertown, SD), his mother, Marlene Jackson (Watertown, SD), sister Barb Murphy (Jim) South Jordan, UT, brother Mike (Stacy), Lincoln, NE & sister Patty Crater (Barry), Edina, MN; nieces & nephews: Andrew, Rebecca, Arabelle, Aidan, Michael & Bennett; great nephews/niece: Rohan, Gus, Murphy & Freyja; and special friends, Erick & Gloria Jackson & daughters, Marie, Lily & Leah.
Doug was preceded in death by his dad, his older brother, Randy & grandparents.
A memorial service to honor Doug’s life is planned for 11:00 am on Saturday June 3rd at the First Methodist Church in Watertown (4 Second Ave SE). There will be a visitation from 10:00 –11:00 and a light lunch following the service.
