DuWayne Lambert Mack was born to Nicholas P. and Eleanora (Heyn) Mack on September 26, 1931 on the family farm south of Kranzburg. He attended school in his early years at St. Liborius in Polo, SD. During his last two years of high school, DuWayne boarded with the Ben Kliegle family in Goodwin, SD where he started his trade as a mechanic. After his graduation from Goodwin High School in 1949, he went on to trade school in Fargo where he graduated and then was drafted into the United States Army in 1952. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked as a mechanic for Julius Harstick at Watertown Tire Co., Rozum's Garage, and Jacobsen & Coombes Ford in Clear Lake, SD. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa and a lifelong mechanic and farmer.

DuWayne married Rita Ries on July 6, 1955 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. They were happily married for 66 years. Their early years were spent in Kranzburg until March of 1966 when they moved to the family farm and DuWayne and Rita were dairy farmers for 35 years.

DuWayne was a Life member of the VFW Post 750, Catholic Order of Foresters and Knights of Columbus.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, actively hunting right up to his last days. He was the last survivor of his family.

Through God's grace and diligent work and participation by their children and their families, DuWayne and Rita's dream of passing away on their farm was fulfilled. They worked their life together to be as one. They lived their life and raised their family to that end and were only separated a short time. Today DuWayne and Rita rejoice together in Heaven.

DuWayne is survived by his children, Alan (Lois) Mack of Brookings, Keith (Cindy) Mack of Watertown, Cheryl (Ted) Sutton of Castlewood, Terry Mack of Goodwin, SD, Cindy (Robert) Lee of De Smet, Darwin (Mary) Mack of Goodwin, Denise (Dean) Maag of Aberdeen, Rosanne Mack of Clear Lake and Scott (Sonia) Mack of Brookings; 20 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Donna Hanten of Goodwin, SD, and Armella Ries of Watertown, SD; a brother-in-law, Edward Friske of Castlewood, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rita; daughter, Audrey Ann Mack; his grandson, Brogan Mack; his brothers, Ralph, Anthony, AJ, Francis, Robert and Philip; his sister, Mary Ann Friske; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
