Obituary for Edward W. "Ed" Johnson
Edward "Ed" Johnson, age 72, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Jenkins Living Center.
Memorial services will be 2:00 pm, with an hour visitation prior, on June 16, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church in Watertown with Pastor Elmer Brinkman officiating.
Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Watertown with the United States Navy Funeral Honors Team presenting the flag.
Edward Worley Johnson was born on October 12, 1949 in Watertown, SD to Worley “Red” N. and Vera "Ann" (Wells) Johnson. He grew up in Watertown where he attended school and graduated in 1968. Ed joined the United States Navy on July 3, 1968 where he served in Vietnam and Korea and then was honorably discharged on June 21, 1972.
Ed worked at various lumber yards in Watertown. He then was employed at Fiberglass Unlimited in Watertown where he formed fiberglass buckets and booms for Telelect.
Ed had a laid back, easy going attitude and loved his family amongst all others. He enjoyed helping out other people.
He was an active member at First United Methodist Church operating the sound system.
Ed is survived by his siblings, Trudy (Richard) Mitchell-Bayne of Roseville, IL, David (Esther) Johnson of New London, IA, Alice (Wendell) Bruns of Watertown, SD, William (Freda) Johnson of Auburn, WA and Doria (Ron) Block of Watertown, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Worley and Vera; his brother, Loren Batien; his sisters, Lona Johnson and Ora Kent; and nephew, Jeffrey Block.
