Obituary for Evelyn "Pat" Magee

Evelyn “Pat” Magee, 94, formerly of Watertown passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.  Pastor Marilyn Spurrell will officiate, Neal Mack will be the soloist with Lesa Dahl accompanying.

Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Watertown.

Pallbearers will be Dana Guffin, Ryan Briggs, Josh Schneider, Joe Kruger, Drayden Schneider and Mike Magee.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pat’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the staff at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center.

Evelyn “Pat” (Besaw) Magee was born June 30, 1924 in Canton, New York to Gilbert and Mabel (Wheeler) Besaw.  She graduated from Canton High School.  During WWII, Pat worked in an arms munitions factory in Schenectady, New York.  Pat met William “Bill” Magee, who was serving in the Navy.  They were married May 10, 1945 in Canton.  The couple moved to Bill’s hometown of Watertown, South Dakota.  Pat remained in Watertown for over 50 years as a homemaker.  She was active in her church, she loved to play bridge, dance and travel.

Pat is survived by her children, Nancy (Dave) Guffin of Webster, SD, Tim (Carol) Magee of Helena, MT and Julie (Rick) Briggs of Watertown, SD; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Clara Besaw of NY.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; four brothers, one sister; one brother-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and a granddaughter.
