Obituary for George Edward Rundle

George E. Rundle, age 81, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Avantara Watertown.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., with visitation for one hour prior to the services on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Family Worship Center Foursquare Church in Watertown. Reverend Steve Ferguson will officiate. Music by organist, Lynn Osthus, soloists, Emilee Horning and Burdell Gauger, also congregational singing.

Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD with Military honors conducted by US Navy and US Army Funeral Honors Team and the Northeast SD Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1054.

George Edward Rundle was born to Royce and Mable (Hammerstad) Rundle on November 18, 1939 in Columbia Heights, MN. He grew up in Columbia Heights, MN. He attended school in Columbia Heights. George joined the United States Navy on February 2, 1959 and was honorably discharged from his military service on February 1, 1963.

On October 14, 1995 he married Tommie Tomcsanyi in Fridley, MN. George worked as an equipment handler for the United States Post Office, retiring in 2008.

Although George was a quiet man, when he spoke he had something worth hearing. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and dirt track racing, collecting model cars, drawing, and studying the Word of God. He also enjoyed his travels to Cancun, Alaska and the southern states. George was especially talented with building and his architectural skills were handy when planning special projects around his home. His backyard was a little Garden of Eden having a pond with fish, many beautiful trees and shrubs.

George is survived by his wife, Tommie; his children, Jeanne Bakke of Fridley, MN; Royce Rundle of Minneapolis, MN; Josh Rundle of Stanchfield, MN; Bill Rundle of Grand Junction, CO and Jennifer Rundle of Mora, MN; his stepchildren, Jeanne (Greg) Horning of Watertown, SD; Matt (Natt) Bougie of Maple Lake, MN; Debbie (John) Erhard of Annandale, MN and Tim Bougie of Powderly, TX; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; his siblings, Marlene Shackelton of Fridley, MN; Tom Rundle and Paul (Mary) Rundle of Columbia Heights, MN; Deb (Mike) Brandenburg of Knapp, WI; Becky (Jeff) Duce of Lino Lakes, MN; and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Royce and Mable Rundle, his sister Karen, his brother Tim, and his daughter Julie.
