Geraldine "Gerry" Rickerl, 89, of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Canton, SD. She was the widow of Dayle A. Rickerl.
Memorial Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel with Father Denis Meier officiating.
Burial will be at the Castlewood Cemetery, Castlewood, SD.
Geraldine (Gerry) Rickerl was born to Elizabeth and Ferd Klatt on April 5, 1931 at Castlewood, South Dakota.
She passed away on November 2, 2020 in the Good Samaritan Society nursing home in Canton, South Dakota at the age of 89.
Gerry grew up on the family farm near Castlewood, the eighth of nine children.
After she graduated from Castlewood High School, she began working in Sioux Falls where she met Dayle (Rick) Rickerl from Dell Rapids. They were married on November 24, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri where he studied chiropractics. They returned to South Dakota and lived in Watertown, both self-employed for many years.
Gerry and Rick were active in the Elks Club, Municipal Golf Club and in Immaculate Conception Catholic parish choir for over 50 years. They lived a full life of family and community service.
Gerry was an avid golfer and bowler and part of the Side By Side Trio with her daughter Karen and friend Correne Chlopkowiak. They participated in Karing Kapers for over 26 years, always having fun and making everything fun for others.
She is survived by daughter Karen Muellerleile, son Patrick Rickerl, granddaughter Liza (Joel) Wornson, grandson Kipp (Brooke) Muellerleile, great granddaughters Ava, Livi and Evie Wornson all of Sioux Falls, sister Doris Henderson of Placentia, California, sister-in-laws Cleo Klatt of Pierre and Sharon Klatt of California, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gerry is preceded in death by her husband Rick, grandson Joseph Muellerleile, son-in-law Greg Muellerleile, brothers Bob Klatt and Rich Klatt, sisters Marie Pflepsen, Cleo Work, Lois Heemeyer, Marge Simmonds and Maryann Klatt.
Heaven is enjoying Gerry and her high tenor harmony.
