Obituary for Gladys Jean Brandsrud
Gladys J. Brandsrud, age 88, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Jenkins Living Center.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m., with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pastor Scott Dempster will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Gladys' grandchildren: Jessie Wolf, Shelly Sprenger, Janelle Walkins, Matt Brandsrud, Amanda Compton, Sharon Bauman, Jennifer LeBlanc, Travis Vickery, Kyle Miller and Katie Miller.
Burial will be at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery in Watertown.
Gladys Jean Brandsrud, daughter of Clarence and Bernice (McDorman) Sutherland was born on November 14, 1933 in Watertown, SD. She grew up in Watertown where she attended school and graduated from Watertown Senior High.
On August 16, 1952, Gladys was united in marriage with Robert "Bob" Brandsrud and six children, Larry, Jeanne, Susan, Gary, Janice and Joanne were born to this union. Gladys worked in food service as a deli worker at Hy-Vee in Watertown. Gladys and Bob had been married for thirty-nine years when Bob passed away on November 29, 1991.
She enjoyed genealogy, quilting, puzzles and was an avid reader.
Gladys is survived by her children, Larry (Judy) Brandsrud of Sioux Falls, Jeanne (Dean) Walkins of Goodwin, Gary (Kay) Brandsrud of Watertown, and Janice (Steve) Bauman of Worthington, MN; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and her sister, Carol Howard of Watertown.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Bob" Brandsrud, her parents, Clarence and Bernice, her daughters Susan Brandsrud and Joanne Vickery, her granddaughter Sarah Brandsrud, one sister Arlene Carrier, and three brothers, Dick, Harold and Dale Sutherland.
