Gladys J. Dahlgren, 92, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Avantara Watertown.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 1, 2021 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown with Pastor Cheryl Rondeau-Bassett officiating.
Gladys' service will be recorded and added to her obituary page on the funeral home website when available.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD.
Pallbearers will be Dustin, Derrick, Devin, Jack and Dray Dahlgren, Kyle Schake, and Kevin Dahlgren.
Gladys June Dahlgren, daughter of George and Ethel (Miller) Gaede was born on October 24, 1928 in Goodwin, SD. She grew up in the Goodwin, Clear Lake area and attended Goodwin Elementary School, graduating from Clear Lake High School.
On August 15, 1948 she married J. H. "Herb" Dahlgren in Clear Lake, SD. Gladys enjoyed being a wife and homemaker and raising their two children, Deb and Doug. She also enjoyed spending quality time with her three grandsons, Dustin, Derrick, and Devin and her family and friends.
Gladys was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed baking, playing cards, and tending to her flower garden and many flower pots; especially geraniums. Gladys also enjoyed taking care of her backyard birds and listening to her music.
Gladys is lovingly missed by her children, Deb (Doug) Fink of Zell, SD, and Doug (Sharon) Dahlgren of Watertown, SD; three grandsons, Dustin (Amy), Derrick (Jessica), and Devin (Kayley) Dahlgren; four step-grandchildren, Jessi (Wendy), Jeremy (Amber) Fink, Janelle (Frank Leibfarth), and Kelsey (Will Erstad) Bludorn; eight great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; three sisters, Arlene (LeRoy) Klavetter of Brookings, SD, Karin (Arnie) Severson of Clear Lake, SD, and Dorla (Terry) Thiele of Maple Grove, MN; her in-laws, Ole Olerud of Clear Lake, SD, and Ken (Norma) Dahlgren of Strandburg, SD, Darlene Dahlgren of Blaine, MN, and Marlys (Lee) Trippett of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herb; one brother, Luvern; three sisters, Cleo Olerud, Ardith Niemann and Marvel Dumke; three brothers-in-law, Bernard Niemann, Jerry Dumke and Kirmet Dahlgren; three sisters-in-law, Alice (Emil) Nord, Esther (Foy) Witbeck and Gladys (Bill) Shear; one nephew, Randy Klavetter; and her special friend Lyell Klemm.
