Glenda grew up on the family farm near Bridgewater, SD. She attended country school through the first grade and graduated from Bridgewater High School in 1974. After graduating, Glenda attended Grace Bible Institute (now Grace University) in Omaha, NE from 1974 to 1976. She then transferred to Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD to complete her secondary schooling. She graduated from Northern State University in 1979 with a Bachelor’s Degree majoring in Physical Education with a minor in Library Sciences. She took Master’s level courses from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, MN during the summers of 1986 and 1987.

Glenda worked as the K-12 librarian in the Tri-Valley School District from 1979 to 1987. She then held the same position in the Hamlin School District until 1996 where she also worked as the assistant volleyball coach.

Glenda was united in marriage to Brian Kuhlman at Zion Mennonite Church in Bridgewater on November 10, 1990. The two shared 31 years of wedded bliss. Glenda and Brian lived and worked together on their family farm near Watertown, SD where they raised all three of their children. Glenda retired from Hamlin schools in 1996 to be a homemaker and stay-at-home mom for her children Zachary, Matthew, and Rachel; her children were her highest calling.

Glenda and Brian were members of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Grover, SD where she participated in Ladies Aid. Even after Emmanuel closed in 2004 she continued to help her family with the upkeep of the cemetery. She was always interested and invested in the lives of those she cared about and was known for her generosity and compassion and her laughter. She had a love of reading. Crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, and cross-stitching were among her favorite hobbies. She also had a love of gardening and was an amazing cook.
