Harlan Russell Bach, son of Russell and Grace (Kellogg) Bach was born on March 17, 1938, on the Kellogg Farm, north of Watertown. He grew up in the Watertown area, where he resided throughout his life. Harlan married Patricia Skells at the Ninth Avenue United Methodist Church in Watertown on January 31, 1964. Together they raised three children, Brian, Becky and Beth. Harlan also served with the South Dakota Army National Guard.

Harlan owned and operated Arrow Truck Line, Inc. for nearly 50 years. He has driven down every road in Codington county (multiple times) and hauled all over the Midwest. In addition to traveling for work, he traveled around the country with his wife, Pat. They wintered in Quartzsite, AZ many times, took a bus tour all over New England as well as the Canadian Rockies, experienced an Alaskan Cruise, and saw the Atlantic Ocean for the first time while on a trip to Disney World with his grandkids.

There was nothing more important to Harlan than spending time with his family, having coffee with friends and fishing. Harlan was always running into someone he knew, no matter where he went. He enjoyed hunting, watching NASCAR, and playing cards. Fishing provided the opportunity for Harlan to travel to Canada and the Missouri River. In the summer, you could always find him fishing at his secret spots around northeast South Dakota. He was known for making his famous homemade ice cream.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Patricia "Pat" Bach of Watertown; his children, Brian (Bobbie) Bach of Watertown, Becky Williams of Kearney, NE, and Beth (Jason) Hanson of Watertown; 10 grandchildren, Megan (Alex Humpton) Bach, Grace (Dawson) Tschakert, Tristan Bach, Trevor (Carly) Williams, Derrick (Karen Realpe) Williams, Krista Williams and Morganne Williams, Jordan (Justin) Fundermann, Jenah Hanson, Jaden (Andrew) Mears; 3 great grandchildren, Saywer, Celia and Scout Williams; two brothers, Lowell (Marilyn) Bach of Watertown and Dean Bach Runnells, IA; one sister, Carol (Nick) Gusso of Sioux Falls; and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Grace Bach, his brother Richard (Mabel) Bach, and his grandson Chase Williams.
