Obituary for James Gregory "Greg" Zimprich
James "Greg" Zimprich, age 88, of Watertown, SD passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022.
Visitation will be from 3-5 pm, with a rosary at 3:00 pm, on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Funeral mass will be at 9:00 am, Monday, October 31, 2022 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Richard Fox officiating. Music will be provided by the Immaculate Conception Funeral Choir and granddaughter, Ashley Kresen as soloist.
Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Watertown, SD.
Pallbearers will be Greg's grandchildren: Jayme McCutcheon, Lindsey Majchrzak, Jared Zimprich, Jennifer Kludt, Leah Carr, Joelle Roskens, Lynae Capaul, Ashley Kresen, Erik Davis, Jacey Petersen, Larame Zimprich, Jolissa Yonker, Kayla Christensen, Larae Zimprich, Jaylnn Yonker and Chandler Stormo.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or School.
Greg Zimprich was born to Joe and Alice (Ostrander) Zimprich on December 5, 1933. Greg attended school in Thomas, SD, graduating from Thomas High School. He married Gladys Brenden on December 31, 1955. The couple farmed near Grover and together they raised six children, Deb, Gloria, Brad, Dan, Janet and Jackie. Greg's beloved wife, Gladys, passed away on November 1, 2001.
On August 28, 2004, Greg married Sally Maxwell in Sioux Falls and the couple lived on the farm and later moved into Watertown. They also wintered in Florida.
Greg was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He greatly enjoyed his family, farming, traveling and playing Pinochle. His grandchildren and great grandchildren brought a twinkle to his eyes. He was known by all as 'Grandpa'.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Gladys, his sister Marilyn, and his parents Joe and Alice Zimprich.
Greg is survived by his wife, Sally Zimprich of Watertown; his children, Deb (Curt) Christensen of Stillwater, MN, Gloria (Dan) Davis of Hugo, MN, Brad (Penny) Zimprich and Dan (Lori) Zimprich of Hazel, SD, Janet (Lonny) Stormo of Stillwater, MN, and Jackie (John) Yonker of Lake Norden, SD; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren with one on the way; and his brother, Joe Zimprich of Sioux Falls, SD.
