Obituary for Joan Bichler
Joan Bichler, age 90, of Watertown, SD, passed away Monday, March 23, 2020 at Good Samaritan Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Private family service will be held. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Joan was born December 19, 1929 to Marshall and Sena Osman in Aberdeen, SD.
Joan graduated from Huron High School and the University of SD at Vermillion with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Accounting.
She married J. Ward Bichler on July 8, 1951. Ward and Joan made their home in Watertown, SD and enjoyed their cabin and later permanent home on Lake Kampeska. Joan worked with Ward for several years in the family business, Bichler Motor Co.
Joan enjoyed raising her family, traveling, fishing, boating, music, dancing, family dinners, spending time with her grandchildren, and a large circle of friends.
She was a member of PEO and a dedicated volunteer for many years in the Codington County elections. Joan was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and later Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Watertown. She was a devout servant of the Lord and walked with Christ every day of her life on earth.
Joan was preceded in death by her cherished husband of 48 years, J. Ward Bichler, her parents, her brother, Gene, and her beloved daughter, Jody Else, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond.
Joan is survived by her sons, Scott (Sheila) Bichler of Grand Forks, ND, Mark (Carla) Bichler of Baxter, MN, daughter, Wendy Bradley (Rick) of Garland, TX, son-in-law, Jeff Else, of Sioux Falls, SD, four grandchildren, Kenny (Carla), Kirsten, Christian, and Claire, two step grandchildren, (Colton and Jordon), four great grandchildren, (Mia, Marcus, Deklan, and Liam), four nieces, (Laura, Karen, Linda, and Kay) and sister-in-law, Dode Osman.
