Obituary for John M. Lynch
John "Jay" M. Lynch, age 65, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel with Pastor Luke Smith officiating.
Urnbearer will be his son, John "JD" Lynch.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Watertown. There will be a lunch to follow at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel.

John Michael Lynch, son of John Richard and Mary (Mahoney) Lynch was born on September 28, 1957 in Newton, MA. He grew up in Newton where he attended school and graduated from Newton South High School in 1975. After graduating, John entered the United States Navy and served his country until being honorably discharged in 1981.
On May 12, 1990 he married Cydney Nelson and they were blessed with two children, Jayme and John "JD". They moved to Watertown, SD in 2001, where they raised their family. John worked in the hospitality industry as a front desk clerk at the Country Inn and Suites.
John was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge 838, where he held many officer titles and was always volunteering at the local, state, and national levels. He was an avid NASCAR and New England Patriots fan.
John is survived by his children, Jayme (Eric) Gregersen of Watertown, SD, and his son, John "JD" Lynch of Watertown, SD; his siblings, Richard "Rick" (Sandy) Lynch of Randolph, MA and Jeanne Lynch of Newton, MA; his mother, Mary Lynch of Newton, MA; his former wife, Cyd Lynch of Watertown, SD; his very special cousin, Phillip (Kathy) Greene of Gladewater, TX; two nieces, Stephanie and Brittany Lynch; and two nephews, Gregory and Aiden Desjardins.
He is preceded in death by his father, John R. Lynch and his sister, Joan (Lynch) Desjardins.
