Obituary for Joseph M. Pellish

Joseph M. Pellish, 85, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Avantara Watertown.

Private family funeral service will be Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Watertown.

Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Watertown, SD.

Joseph "Joe" Myron Pellish, son of Joseph and Anna (Doviak) Pellish, was born on April 1, 1935 in Danville, PA; he was the oldest of 4 siblings. The family later moved to Mankato, MN where Joe grew up and attended Loyola Catholic School where he loved to play football; he graduated in 1953. Following high school, he joined the United States Army in September 1953 where he served as Private First Class; he was honorably discharged on September 6, 1955.

Following his military service, he attended Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN where he graduated in 1959. He then went on to attend Mitchell Hamline School of Law; in 1969 he passed the Bar Exam and graduated. On July 6, 1957 he married Mildred (Millie) Esther Alberts in Mankato, MN; Millie was from Pine Island, MN. Shortly after they married, they moved to St. Paul, MN where they made their home.

After graduating from Law school Joe worked for several firms as their General Legal Counsel. Joe was active in the St. Paul Chapter of Jaycees where he served as local President in 1969. In 1974 he joined HB Fuller Company in St. Paul as their Assistant Legal Counsel where he represented the company globally with acquisitions, trials and all the related corporate activities. He was later promoted to a company Officer and served as Vice President of Environmental, Health & Safety until he retired in April of 1999.

Joe was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing with Millie and friends in many golf leagues. He also enjoyed hunting & fishing in Northern Minnesota with his friends in the Elbow Lake Group.

Following his retirement, they moved to Boerne, TX where they resided until 2010. In 2010 they purchased a home on Lake Kampeska in Watertown, SD where they stayed in the summer months before returning to their home in Boerne, TX. In 2015 they sold their home in Texas and moved to Watertown full time residence.

Joe is survived by his wife, Millie and two sons, Joseph (Elaine) Pellish of Plymouth, MN and Brian (Karen) Pellish of Watertown, SD; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and his brother Steve Pellish of Phoenix, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother and sister, Joan.

In lieu of flowers, Joe has requested that memorials be directed to the Prairie Lakes Foundation Dialysis.
