Joyce R. Olson, 97, of Watertown, SD passed away on Friday March 12, 2021 at Jenkins Living Center in Watertown, SD.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday March 17, 2021 with visitation for one hour prior to the services at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pastor Scott Dempster will officiate with music provided by soloist Bruce Buhler.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD.

Joyce R. Olson was born October 14, 1923 to Birdie and Pauline Stanislaus on a farm near Warner Lake south of Wallace, SD. Joyce grew up in Wallace and graduated from Wallace High School in 1941. She graduated from Northern State Teachers College and taught school in Wallace, SD and Florence, SD. Joyce also served as postmistress for the Wallace, SD post office.
Joyce married Donald Olson on June 7, 1946 and together they raised four children: James, Muriel, Matthew, & Dee.
Joyce was a member of Goodhue Lutheran Church, a member of Goodhue Circle, was active in volunteer service, and a dedicated supporter of the Codington County Democrats.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, son James, an infant great granddaughter, brothers and sisters-in-law Norman and Helen Bergan and Robert and Margaret Bergan.
Left to honor her legacy and share her memory are her children: Muriel (Gene) Gade of The Dalles, OR, Dee (Pat) Nogelmeier of Florence, SD and Matt (Wendy) Olson of Watertown, SD; 11 grandchildren: Michael, Brian, Jon, Amanda, Tammy, Jens, Caitlin, Lucas, Libby, Nathan, and Andy; 14 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
