Obituary for Kathryn "Katy" Reichling

Kathryn "Katy" Reichling, 97, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Grand Living at Lake Lorraine, Sioux Falls, SD.

Funeral mass will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Richard Fox officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., with a scripture service at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.

Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Watertown, SD.

Pallbearers will be Katy's grandchildren: Jamie Turbak, Shannon Luepke, Sheila Becking, Jason and Chad LaQua, Darin Brage, Travis LaQua, Cliff and Nichole Lemme.

Memorials may be designated to South Dakota Special Olympics, 800 E. I-90 Lane, Sioux Falls, SD 57104.

Kathryn Sara (Miller) Reichling, daughter of Henry D.E. and Adeline Florence (Rux) Miller was born on February 24, 1924 in Redfield, SD. She grew up in Watertown, where she attended school and Commercial College. She worked at Prey's Jewelry & Optometry in bookkeeping and retail. On June 2, 1947, she married John Leo Reichling, Jr. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Their dairy farm was northeast of Watertown near Waverly.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and church circle, and a member of several women's groups. She loved watching her son, Jackie in his Special Olympics events, bowling, quilting and sewing. She also enjoyed playing pinochle, reading books, music, and had a special interest in politics and creative arts.

Katy is survived by her children, MaryLynn (Walter R. "Spike") Salisbury of Grand Rapids, MN, Janet (Robert "Bob") Brage of Watertown, SD, Leanne (Gerald) LaQua of Sioux Falls, SD, Dianne (Daryl) Lemme of Rapid City, SD, and "Jackie" John Henry Reichling, III of Sioux Falls, SD; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; two siblings, Florence (Marvin) Galinat of Rapid City, SD, and Curtis (Sherry) Miller of Watertown; and her nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, her son-in-law Bob Brage, and her siblings, Ralph Miller, Dorothy Stoltenburg, Neil Miller and Bernard Miller.
