Obituary for Kathy Lea Budahl
Kathy Lea Budahl, age 72, of Pickerel Lake, SD, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at her residence.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., with one hour visitation prior to the service on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown with Jim Shroll officiating.
Burial will be in the Toronto Cemetery, Toronto, SD.
Memorials may be given in memory of Kathy to Building Stronger Hearts, Inc., 1309 14th Ave. NW, Watertown, SD 57201.
Kathy Lea Budahl was born to Marvin and Florence (Smith) Bruns on August 10, 1948 in Canby, MN. She was raised on a farm near Porter, MN and graduated from Canby High School. After graduation, Kathy did her nurses training at Abbot Northwestern College in the Twin Cities where she obtained her Registered Nurse degree.
On August 8, 1970 she married Laron Budahl in Minneota, MN. The couple lived in Sioux Falls where Kathy worked at Sioux Valley Hospital for nine years. The couple moved to Watertown and Kathy worked at Golden Living Center (Avantara Watertown) for 29 years, before moving to Pickerel Lake.
Kathy enjoyed reading, video lottery, fishing, tanning, and going to the Pickerel Lake Lodge
Kathy is survived by her husband, Laron of Pickerel Lake; her son, Aaron (Emily) Budahl of Brookings, SD; four grandchildren, Brody, Beckham, Logan and Landon; her brother-in-law, Dick (Bonnie) Pooley of Apple Valley, MN; her nephew, Wayne (Jacia) Bruns; and her niece, Kathy (Bill) Hespen.
She was preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Florence Bruns, and her brother Marcus Bruns.
