Obituary for Keith D. Nelson
Keith D. Nelson, age 57, of Watertown died on Friday, November 13, 2020, of Covid pneumonia.

The graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, May 29, 2021 at the Dudley Township Cemetery, Stickney, SD, Aurora County.
Keith was born on December 27, 1962 in Watertown, South Dakota to Dr. Parry and Arleen (Hindman) Nelson. He was a Down's Syndrome person. As he grew up, he provided our family with challenges, but also much joy and happiness. He was a "happy-go-lucky" personality as he navigated life. One of his brothers' "favorite" memories of Keith was being awakened every morning before school with either Tubular Bells or Switched-On Bach being blasted out of the stereo, well before we wanted to wake up.
Keith attended special education classes for several years at Lincoln Elementary (the one that was torn down many years ago). He would board the school bus in the morning, and come home later in the day.
One of Keith's favorite activities in the summer was to sit on the shore of Lake Kampeska and throw rocks into the water. He would sit there for hours. Keith enjoyed family get-togethers and seeing all his relatives during the year.
After reaching adulthood, Keith went to live in a group home in Aberdeen for several years, before relocating back to Watertown after our mother became unable to drive up to visit. His last address was the group home at 13th St. SE, where he lived and was cared for by the staff there for the past several years.
Survivors are his brothers, Jim and Joan Nelson, Dale and Rachael Nelson and Steve Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.
