Obituary for Kevin D. Dunn
Kevin Daryl Dunn, age 66, of Spearfish and formerly of Watertown, SD, passed away in his home on Monday, March 20, 2023.
There will be a visitation from 5-7pm, Thursday April 13, 2023 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Watertown Hockey Association.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Kevin's Grandchildren, Carter Olsen, Jaden Olsen, Eden Dunn, Macy Olsen, Peyton Hassebroek, Jada Dunn, Stoli Dunn, and Trip Williams.
Kevin was born on February 20, 1957 to Daryl Emery Dunn and Wanelda Joyce (Dunlop) in Vermillion, SD. Kevin attended early elementary and high school in Minnesota. He graduated in Minnesota and attended Huron College where he received a BA degree in Education. Kevin taught High School math at Grant Deuel High School in Revillo, SD and then in Watertown, SD until his retirement in 2012. He also worked at Hy-Vee and Walmart as after school hobbies.
Kevin served in the Air Force and Army National Guard. He served in Desert Storm and The Gulf War.
He married Jamie Donnelle Olson in 1980-1992. They had three children: Ashley, Sam and Ellen. Kevin was a very dedicated father, he coached them all in baseball, softball, and hockey for many years.
He enjoyed hockey the most, as did his children. They also enjoyed water sports in the summer as they were all on summer vacation. Kevin enjoyed many hobbies such as hockey, golf, quilting, gun sports, riding motorcycles, flying lessons, downhill skiing, RV excursions and his many grandkids’ lives.
Kevin was one of 4 siblings: Cynthia (Kevin) Kooistra (1954-2018) of Watertown, Jeff (Barb) Dunn of Colorado and Jude Dunn of Watertown.
Survivors include his children Ashley Olsen, Sam (Taylor) Dunn, and Ellen Dunn; eight grandkids; Carter, Jaden, Eden, Macy, Peyton, Jada, Stoli and Trip; one brother, Jeff (Barb Dunn), and one sister Jude Dunn,
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daryl and Wendy; and his sister Cynthia.
