Obituary for Larry Posner
Alden "Larry" Posner, age 84, of Watertown, SD, passed away unexpectedly on January 5th, 2022.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown with Reverend Elmer Brinkman officiating.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel.
Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Military honors will be conducted by Codington County Post 17 of the American Legion in Watertown and the United States Navy Funeral Honors Team.
Pallbearers will be Sam Magedanz, Lynn Geuke, Teresa Geuke, Roger Posner, Allen Payne and Russell Mills.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Jenkins Living Center, 215 S. Maple in Watertown, or Glacial Lakes Humane Society, P.O. Box 1701, Watertown, SD 57201.
Alden Larry Posner, was born on October 18th, 1937 in Watertown, SD to Allen and Frances (Klucas) Posner.
He grew up on a farm north of Henry, SD. He graduated from Henry High School in 1955. Larry entered the United States Navy in the fall of 1955, and proudly served for 3 ½ years.
Larry married Jane Mendell on June 3rd, 1961 in Watertown. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2021.
He loved to hunt and fish, spending much of their time at their summer home at South Whitlock’s Resort on Lake Oahe. He also loved Nascar and all dirt racing, and loved watching Rodeos.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Jane of Watertown; two daughters, LaRae Geuke (Brian) of Turton SD, and LeAnn Magedanz (Gary) of Revillo, SD; three grandchildren, Teresa Geuke of Turton, SD, Lynn Geuke (Erin) of Plankinton, SD, and Sam Magedanz of Revillo, SD; six great grandchildren, Paige, Paityn, Aylah, Gretchen, Barrett and Nixon; one sister, Delores Grams and her son, Russell (Sandra) Mills of Riverside, CA; and two brothers, Dean (Darla) Posner of Lincoln, NE, and Roger Posner of Watertown, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and several aunts and uncles.
