Obituary for Lawrence "Larry" Lease
Larry Lease, age 75, of Hayti, SD passed away Monday, May 11, 2020 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown.
Private family services will be Saturday, May 16, 2020.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry’s 11 grandchildren.
Lawrence William Lease was born April 29, 1945 in Cumberland, Maryland to Charles Jasper and Ruth Elizabeth (Sweitzer) Lease. He grew up in Cumberland where he graduated from high school.
Larry joined the United States Air Force on January 16, 1964 and was honorably discharged on January 15, 1968.
Larry was united in marriage to Norma Jean Bruchey on May 5, 1973 in Frederick, Maryland. Larry lived in Frederick, Maryland and Ranson, West Virginia where he worked as a mechanic and truck driver. The family moved to Hayti, South Dakota in 1991. Larry worked for 19 years at the Hamlin Education Center prior to retirement.
He enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, fishing and hunting, as well as mechanical tinkering.
Larry is survived by his wife, Norma Lease of Hayti; children, Dean (Martha) Sell (stepson) of Martinsburg, WV, Randy (Vicky) Lease of Haymarket, VA, Eric (Jenny) Lease of Watertown, SD and David Lease of Watertown, SD; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his brother, Charles (Vicki) Lease of Clearville, PA; his sister, Linda Keefauver of Cumberland, MD; and 2 nieces and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruth Lease; and his niece, Shelly.
