Leonard Olaf Dolen, son of Olger and Elnora (Rise) Dolen was born on October 17, 1936 in Fargo, North Dakota. Because of his parents work, the family lived in the following communities of Frazee, Dale and Lake Park, Minnesota. In 1947 the family moved to an acreage 2 1/2 miles northeast of Stockholm, South Dakota. Leonard attended high school in South Shore, graduating in 1954. He then graduated from the Hanson Auto Mechanics School in 1956. Leonard moved to Watertown and worked for Colonel Motors, "The Oldsmobile Shop" until 1961.

On February 7, 1959 he married Donna Gasper at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Leonard and
Donna celebrated 60 years of marriage this year. After his work at Colonel Motors Dealership, Leonard then went to work for International Harvester, which later became Pollard International. In 1982, the business was sold to Interstate Truck Service and Leonard worked there until 1989. He then went to work for Simon Telelect, now named Terex-Telelect.

Ever since Leonard was a little boy, he enjoyed taking everything apart and putting it back together. When Leonard was not working, he enjoyed his time working on guns and had many skills of carving gun stocks for many friends and family. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Donna; four sisters, Elaine (Luvern) Hofhenke of Big Stone City, SD, Karen (James) Loehrer of Milbank, SD, Gloria (Theodore) Kubesh of Blaine, MN and Marilyn (Roger) Barnhardt of Big Stone City, SD; his sister-in-law, Marjorie Winegar of Redfield, SD; and many nieces and nephews.
