Loren Lee Kriese was born August 13, 1931 to Clarence and Myrtle (Flack) Kriese at home in Augusta Township, Lac Qui Parle County near Marietta, MN. Loren's mother passed away when he was 3 days old and he was raised by his grandparents John and Mary Kriese. He attended Marietta High School and graduated in 1951. His wife jokingly said that he majored in football and baseball. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting.

Loren enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge in 1953 when he was sent home to run the family farm after the death of his father.
Loren had horses that he trained and competed in horse shows, winning several ribbons and trophies. He laughingly referred to those years as his "want-to-be-cowboy" days.

Loren married Marilyn Jo Mitchell on November 15, 1953 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marietta, MN. Loren and Marilyn lived in Marietta until 1965. They farmed for several years and then Loren began truck driving, hauling bulk milk for Western Dairy. They moved to Watertown in 1965 where he continued truck driving for the next 30 years logging more than 3.5 million miles - pulling mobile homes for Chickasha Mobile Homes, hauling grain for Luken's Discount Farm Center and driving for Clausen Construction and Trucking. Many times he told his children that he had driven more miles backwards than most people will ever drive forwards. Loren retired in 1993, making more time for the family get-togethers he enjoyed...and fishing of course. He also enjoyed playing cards, and having coffee with his buddies at the coffee shop.

He was a life -time member of the VFW and a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Watertown. His church family was very special to him.

Loren is survived by his children Nancy (Rick) Thompson of Canton, Betty Sanders of Buda, TX, Kathy Bludorn and Barb Kriese of Watertown, Rick (Theresa) Kriese of Mitchell and Cliff (Anne) Kriese of Henry; one sister Darlene Peterson of Brainard, MN, brother-in-law Lawrence Millerbernd of Nassau, MN, 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Loren was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marilyn of 66 years, his parents, Clarence and Myrtle Kriese, daughter Bonnie (Kriese) Keszler, brother Harold Kriese, sisters Jeanette Hiepler, Shirley Dieck and Delores Millerbernd, sons-in-law Brad Meyer, Bob Sanders and Bruce Bludorn, and great grandson Jace Zachary.
