Lorraine K. Hurkes, daughter of Bart and LaVonne (Carlson) Albertson, was born on October 30, 1950 in Cando, ND. She spent her childhood in Grand Forks and Sioux Falls, before moving to Watertown at the age of 17. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1968.

During high school is when Lori met the love of her life, Pat. They were united in marriage at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD on March 18, 1972. Three children were born to this union, Kim, Jenny, and Kristen. Pat and Lori were married for 48 years until his passing October 27, 2020.

Through high school and her entire working career, Lori worked as a dental lab technician at Albertson Dental Lab started by her father and now brother, Rod. She was blessed to work alongside her brother until her retirement in 2013.

Lori’s greatest achievement in life to her was her family. She loved them fiercely, and always said she was so thankful to have all her “little chicks” close to her. They were her pride and joy, and she would gladly tell you all about them!

Lori was blessed with 7 grandchildren whom she loved deeply, and in her eyes they could do no wrong! Grandma Lolo loved them and they loved her “to the moon and back”.

Lori lived at Lake Kampeska with her husband, Pat. Her favorite thing to do was gather their family together to make memories in their home. Lori and Pat were amazing parents and grandparents. They loved and taught their family how to love. They devoted their lives to making their children and grandchildren happy and blessing them with amazing memories.

Though we feel their time here on Earth was too short, we find peace in knowing Lori and Pat couldn’t be separated by death and are together again. Now they can make those Kampeska sunsets sparkle together for us again.

Left to cherish Lori's memory are her children, Kim (Chad) Stricherz, Jenny (Jason) Kasuske and Kristen Hurkes (Martues Martin) all of Watertown; seven grandchildren, Kynsee, Cooper, and Camden Stricherz, Graysen, Kolbie and Colton Kasuske and Vayda Hurkes; her siblings, Shirley Lundy of Watertown, Sandy (Eric) Mack of Velva, ND, Ron (Lisee) Albertson and Rod (Jane) Albertson of Watertown, and Rich (Shannon) Albertson of Brandon; her father-in-law, Richard C. Hurkes of Watertown; her brothers-in-law, Mike (Violet) Hurkes, Jon Hurkes, Dave (Sandy) Hurkes of Watertown; her sisters-in-law, Jean (Paul) Ruhr and Julie Matteson of Watertown, Jan Albertson of Colorado, ; her nieces and nephews; and her many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat; her parents, Bart and LaVonne Albertson; one grandson, Christopher Stricherz; two brothers, Ray and Roger Albertson; her sister, Barb Procko; her mother-in-law, Shirley Hurkes; and her brother-in-law, Joel Hurkes.
