Obituary for Lou Ella Ann "Lou Ann" Godes

"Lou Ann" Lou Ella Ann Godes, age 77, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society-Luther Manor in Sioux Falls. She is the widow of Quentin Godes.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 11, 2022 at the Immaculate Conception Church Chapel in Watertown with Father Richard Fox officiating.

Inurnment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Watertown.

Honorary urn bearers will be Bonnie Morgans, Monsignor Chuck Mangan, Father David Jones, George Kinsey Jr. and Doug Berkley.

Lou Ella Ann Godes was born to Floyd and Kathryn (Burckhard) Howson on September 18, 1945 in Colorado Springs, CO. She attended Sacred Heart School during her elementary school years and graduated from Central High School in Aberdeen, SD.

On March 1, 1975, she married Quentin John Godes at Sacred Heart Church in Aberdeen. The couple lived and worked in various communities including Martin, Hot Springs, Rosebud, Sisseton, and Armour, SD. In 1991, Lou Ella and Quentin moved to Watertown, where they made their home. Quentin passed away on December 9, 2020.

Lou Ella was a member of the Holy Name of Jesus Parish and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, paint by number embroidery, paint by number pictures, and paint on black velvet.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents, her husband, Quentin, and several great aunts and uncles.

Lou Ella is survived by her children, Peter and Robert of Sioux Falls, Mary Ann (George) Kinsey of Lennox, and Catherine of Brookings; her sister, Rhoda (Doug) Berkley of Aberdeen, SD; and four grandchildren, Alex, Hudson, Alyson and Alexys.
