Obituary for Louise Joy Pieper

Louise J. Pieper, 85, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2021, with visitation for one hour prior to the services at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Watertown. Pastor Paul Janke will officiate with Karen Livingston as organist.

Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD.

Pallbearers will be Todd Pieper, Ron Moyer, Bill LaMee, Steve Pieper, Jim Pieper and Scott Schelske.

The family requests memorials be given to St. Martin's Telling the Next Generation Fund, 1200 2nd St. NE., Watertown, SD 57201.

Louise Joy Tesch was born to Albert and Stella (Cook) Tesch on November 13, 1935 in Watertown, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Martin's Lutheran Church. Louise attended school in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School in 1953. In 1955 she married William "Bill" Pieper at St. Martin's Lutheran Church. Louise was a farm wife and mother and together the couple raised six children on their dairy, beef and grain farm north of Watertown. In her early years she worked at Cave Supply Co., Swift & Co., and later at Cedar View Assisted Living.

Louise's faith in her Savior, Jesus, was her anchor and strength. She was a lifelong member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church and was involved in many organizations including St. Martin's Ladies Club and Ladies Aid, Extension Club, and was a 4-H Leader of Florence Girls 4-H. Louise had a servant's heart and a sweet smile for everyone.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bill; their children, Todd Pieper and Kari (Ron) Moyer of Watertown, SD, Laurie (Bill) LaMee of Andover, SD, Steve (Beckie) Pieper of Peoria, AZ, Jim (Shelly) Pieper of Watertown, SD, and Ann (Scott) Schelske of Brandon, SD; 14 grandchildren: Heather, William, Mike, Maria, Jenna, Katie, Josh, Cierra, Emmah, Kali, Kerigan, Tyler, Nick, and Evelyn; seven great grandchildren; her siblings, Sandra (Hank) Albrecht of De Smet, SD, Dale (Mary) Tesch of Watertown, SD, and Burton (Ronae) Tesch of Hayti, SD; her sisters-in-law, Sharon (Harry) LaQua, Betty Pieper, and Barbara Tesch; a brother-in-law, Harold (Lilly) Drake; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Stella Tesch, her in-laws Ray and Edna Pieper, two brothers Ferdy and Hal Tesch, her sisters-in-law, Carol Tesch, Eunice Tesch, Eileen Drake, and Jean Pieper; and brother-in-law, Roland Pieper.
