Margery Marie Byer was born on April 23, 1927 to Joseph and Ella B (Hurle) Curley on the family farm by Henry, South Dakota. She grew up in the Henry area and attended Curley 49 Country School through the 7th grade. She then attended Henry School and graduated from Henry High School in 1945. Marg was employed at Nash Finch from 1945-1947, at Redlinger plumbing from 1947-1951 and then later she did furniture repair from 1976-1990.

Marg and Herman A. Byer were united in marriage on September 26, 1951 at St. Henry Catholic Church. The couple raised their children on the farm where Marg was a loving wife, mother and a faithful homemaker. Herman passed away on June 22, 1992, after celebrating almost 41 years of marriage.

Marg loved to attend family activities and celebrations; not wanting to miss anything! Her life was centered on her family. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and crafts, spending countless hours making Christmas gifts for each family member. She always had fresh baked goodies on her table. Her grand kids and great-grandkids will always remember playing cards and games with Grandma. Marg’s kind heart and gentle ways will be missed by all.

Her faith was a very important part of her life and she was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church. Marg was also a member of the Right to Life.

Marg is survived by her children, Cheryl (Lyle) Forbes of Bancroft, SD, Don (Linda) Byer of Sidney, MT, Gary (Diane) Byer of Florence, SD, Diane (Greg) Rislov of Pierre, SD, Nancy (Bruce) Schwinger of Florence, SD, Janet (Joe) Bevers of Watertown, SD, Roger Byer (fiancée, Kim Hermanson) of Sidney, MT and Deb (Joe) Waba of Watertown, SD; and her sister, Lois Junso of Billings, MT.; 30 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren.
