Obituary for Marjorie Emma Nelson
Marjorie E. Nelson, age 92, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Jenkins Living Center.
Private Family Services will be on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown with Reverend Keith Petersen officiating. Dave Boehnke will be the soloist accompanied by Barb Hartley.
Public Graveside Services will be at 3:15 p.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the Lorinda Cemetery, rural Henry. A reception will follow at the Henry Community Center.
Pallbearers will be Mike Keszler, Rick Nelson, Tim Johnson, Jarad Paulson, Jordon Paulson and Rod Cotton.
Marjorie Emma Nelson, the fourth daughter of Frank Arthur and Alma Bertha (Ulbricht) Nelson, was born on July 30, 1928 in Henry, South Dakota. She grew up on the family farm near Henry, SD, residing there until 1963. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she was a lifetime member. Marjorie attended Pleasant Valley District #29 country school for eight years and graduated from Henry High School in 1946.
Marjorie devoted her life as a caretaker for her family and the children of many families around the Henry area. She lived a simple life and enjoyed planting moss roses in the spring and sharing her sweet treats from the fridge with guests.
She was fond of drawing and taking walks on a nice day. She especially loved visiting with her family and calling her loved ones just to check in. She will be remembered for her gentle humming and sweet smiles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Marvin, Lloyd, Frank E. and Richard J. Nelson; and her sisters, Alice Hogstad and Elsie Hestand.
Marjorie is survived by her siblings, Edna Schooley of Aurora, CO, and Sylvia (LaVern) Zamow of Watertown; her sister-in-law, Elaine Nelson of Watertown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
