Marlys Elaine Stricherz was born on October 22, 1938 to Milo and Evelyn (Hemmingson) Halstenson in Canby, MN. Marlys attended grade school in Gary, SD and high school in Watertown, graduating from Watertown High School with the Class of 1956. On September 21, 1957 she married Douglas Stricherz in Watertown. They were blessed with three sons, Jay, Craig and Chad. Marlys worked in medical records at Bartron Clinic, and for Dr. Jones. She was very proficient at shorthand.

Those who knew Marlys well will remember her LOVE of Halloween, (which was also close to her Birthday). She was always the best dressed! She loved to hand out the candy and count the number of kids that knocked on her door each year.

She enjoyed spending her time camping with family, playing cards with friends, volunteering with the Women’s Group at Immaculate Conception, in the Gift Shop at Jenkins every Wednesday afternoon, and helping out at the Watertown Arrow Education Foundation. She basked in her role as a local Election Supervisor and due to her almost 20 years of working with Dr. Jones, she literally knew almost everyone in town!

Marlys was always quick with a smile, a song or silly rhyme and the occasionally burping contest especially with her grandkids. And the one thing that Marlys always had with her - A DIET COKE! We know that Dad has cases and cases waiting for her!

Marlys is survived by her sons, Jay M. Stricherz of Watertown, SD, Craig D. (Melissa) Stricherz of St. Cloud, MN, and Chad (Kimberly) Stricherz of Watertown, SD; her sister, Lorna (Will) Huggins of Henderson, NV; 8 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father Milo Halstenson, her mother Evelyn Halstenson-Dahl, her stepfather Sig Dahl, and her husband Doug Stricherz.
