Obituary for Martha Hanten
Martha Hanten, age 86 of Austin, TX passed away peacefully on Monday, November 9, 2020.
A memorial service will be held November 21, 2020 at Wight and Comes Funeral home in Watertown, SD at 2 pm with a graveside service following at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Martha was born in Watertown, SD on April 22, 1934 to parents Fred and Gertrude Ritz.
She is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Gertrude Ritz; her beloved husband of 42 years, Richard A. Hanten; her great grandson Christofer and other sisters and brothers.
Martha is survived by her children and their spouses Richard Hanten and wife Pam, John Hanten and wife Tracy; and Dianna Hanten Martz and husband Al; 5 grandchildren Nick Hanten and wife Jackie; Kristen Hanten and partner Brandon Johnson; Dylan Samples and wife Nichele; David Smith and wife Christi and Meghan Stano and husband David; 7 great grand-children and 2 great-great grand-children. She is also survived by her sisters Helen Valliere, Linda Ritz, sister in law Charlotte Ritz and one brother, Donald Ritz.
Martha was an amazing human who was kind hearted, loving, selfless and always spoke her mind. She was a longtime member of the Balcones Country Club in Austin and enjoyed golfing 2-3 times a week with her friends up until 2017.
She is now with the Lord, witnessing His glory, beauty and majesty (and maybe a majestic golf course or two with dad).
