Obituary for Mary Hawkins
Mary M. Hawkins, age 78, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Jenkins Living Center.
Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m., with funeral services to follow at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown with Pastor Janet Miller.
Burial will be at Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Summit, SD.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Ronnie Grewing.
Pallbearers will be Dylan Amdahl, Mark Amdahl, Chad Coleman, Trey Rawlins, Blake Dahle and Aaron Hawkins.
Mary Maxine Amdahl Hawkins was born March 5, 1944 in Watertown, SD to Joseph and Margery (Pugh) Amdahl. She grew up on the family farm. Mary graduated from Summit High School in 1962. In her senior year, Mary was honored for singing "Somewhere over the Rainbow" at the Aberdeen State College.
Mary was employed at many different jobs throughout the years. The job she enjoyed the most was working at Jenkins and helping the residents. She was a very hard worker and took pride in her job. She gave 20 years of service at Jenkins and was honored with an award for employee of the year.
She loved spending time with her children and grandkids. She also loved music, singing and cooking for her family, and enjoyed planting flowers.
Mary is survived by her children, Renae Rawlins, Aaron Hawkins and Stephanie (Mark) Dahle; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and her brother, James Amdahl.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Margery, two brothers Robert and Charles Amdahl, her sisters-in-law Joan Amdahl and Valerie Amdahl, one grandson, and one great grandson.
