Mary Lue Johnson, 94, of Spearfish, went to Heaven on Palm Sunday, March 28, 2021.
Mary Lue Turbak Johnson was born on August 16, 1926 in Kranzburg, SD to Albert and Anna Turbak. She grew up in Kranzburg and went to high school in Goodwin, SD. After high school she went to Sioux Falls College to learn to be a country schoolteacher. She taught country school near Strandburg, SD until she married Robert W Johnson. They lived in many communities and acquired many lifelong friends.
Mary Lue had 13 children, including three sets of twins. She stayed at home to care for her family. She was devoted to her Catholic Church, sang in the church choirs, was a housekeeper for many priests, maintained a very clean house and she loved her family. She baked bread and cut hair for many. She was always fun to be around. Her greatest excitement in her life was her love for the Minnesota Twins. They were a great part of her life.
Mary Lue is survived by her 13 children, DaNita Chaplin and LaRita Johnson, Peggy Napier, Bobbi Johnson, Ginny Magnuson, Robert W. Johnson, Jr., Allan Johnson, Jim Johnson and Jerry Johnson, Chris Johnson, Ron Johnson, Beth Ann Haskins and Gerard Johnson and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by Robert W. Johnson and grandson, Jeremy Chaplin.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM on Monday, April 5, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Spearfish, with a vigil to follow at 5:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the church.
A rosary will take place at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kranzburg, SD with Rite of Committal to follow in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Kranzburg, SD.
Arrangements are under the care of the Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapels and Isburg Crematory of Spearfish.
