Obituary for Mary Lou Barlow
Mary Lou Barlow, age 88, of Watertown, SD, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Avantara in Watertown.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Richard Fox as the celebrant.
Music by the Immaculate Conception Funeral Choir accompanied by Helen Gollnick.
Visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, 2022 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Yonker, Kyle Barlow, Jordon Barlow, Aaron Dale, Ken Blais and Gunnar Nelson.
Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD.
Mary Lou Barlow was born January 11, 1933 in Redfield, SD to Mary (Aesoph) and W.P. Edgar. Her early days were spent in Rockham, South Dakota. She attended country school near Rockham and graduated from Redfield High School in 1951. Mary Lou moved to Watertown in 1953 and worked for Midland National Life Insurance Company until 1961.
Mary Lou married Richard Lee Barlow on September 24, 1960, in Watertown where they made their home.
She worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses in Watertown until her retirement. Richard Barlow died April 11, 1988.
Mary Lou bowled for many years. She was not a very good bowler, but really enjoyed the team and having coffee afterwards.
Mary Lou is survived by her children, Lori (Ken) Blais, Bubba (Tammy) Barlow and Ann (Matt) Schell of Watertown, SD; her siblings, Donald "Bud" Edgar of Orient, SD, Donna Hiles of Spearfish, SD, and Doug Edgar and Kathy Nowell of Redfield, SD; 12 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard Barlow, and her brother Richard "Dick" Edgar.
