Obituary for Mildred J. Roe
Mildred J. Roe, 96, of Florence, SD, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Watertown with Reverend Steve Anderson officiating. Jackie Wettestad will be the soloist accompanied by Lynn Osthus.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2019 at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD.
Mildred Jane Roe, daughter of Ira and Hulda (Klogenberg) Dahl was born on September 11, 1923 in Henry, SD. She grew up on a farm near Henry and graduated from Henry High School.
She married Earl E. Roe and the couple farmed and raised Charolais cattle near Medicine Lake. Together they raised three children, Allan, Marlys and Robin.
She was a member of the Cornerstone United Methodist Church and Phipps ladies club for years.
Mildred enjoyed being a housewife and mother. She loved cooking for her family and was very good at it.
She was also known for her sewing abilities. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and watching the Minnesota Twins baseball. Most of all, Mildred loved spending time with her family.
Mildred is survived by her children, Allan (Marlys) Roe of Florence, SD, Marlys (Jerry) Kroon of Brentwood, TN and Robin (Mark) Hindman of LaFayette, CO; 13 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 15 great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl on March 2, 1992; and her siblings, Irene Dahl, Aurelius (Dorothy) Dahl, Francis (Fred) Christianson, Dale (Maythel) Dahl and Delbert (Marion) Dahl.
