Nancy Post, age 80, widow of Eugene Post, went to be with the Lord on May 7th, 2021.
Private family services will be held in the Fall.
Nancy Charlette was born October 5, 1940 in Columbus, OH to Denver and Frieda B. (Balsiger) Thompson. She became a Christian as a teenager. Nancy graduated from Linden-McKinley High School in Columbus on June 10, 1958. She was the first in her family to go to college. She graduated from Nyack College (NY) on May 31, 1964 with her 1st teaching degree.
Nancy married Eugene "Gene" C. Post on June 6, 1964 in Columbus, OH. Shortly after, the couple moved to St. Paul, MN where Gene continued his education at St. Paul Bible College (now Crown College). While living in St. Paul, they had two children, Michael and Jenny.
After Gene's graduation, the family moved to Waubay, SD for his first pastorate at the Waubay Alliance Church. The family moved to Watertown in 1973. Nancy taught school for many years in MN and SD. She received her 2nd education degree in May, 1983 from St. Paul Bible College. After graduating, she finally learned to drive and received her 1st drivers license. This enabled her to accept the position of school teacher for Poinsett and Claremont Colonies where she taught for several years.
Nancy and Jenny worked together for Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Sharp Chevrolet as drivers for a short time, including a memorable trip to Green Bay.
Nancy volunteered thousands of hours through the Volunteer Center and her church in various capacities. Nancy and Jenny worked at Camp Shetek in MN together for several years as craft teachers. They also taught crafts at a few assisted living centers around Watertown. She really enjoyed thinking of quality craft items that participants could be proud to take home. She taught Sunday School and led Bible Studies frequently. Her students appreciated her vast knowledge of the Bible. She was a foster grandparent for IC and McKinley Schools. Nancy crocheted hats for many years and donated them to several organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club, NetMenders, the Crib, the Beacon Center; and Roosevelt, McKinley, Mellette, and IC schools.
Nancy moved to Meadow Lake Assisted Living in August, 2017. She moved to Jenkins in December, 2020. The family is grateful for all of those who helped care for her over the past 3 1/2 years.
Nancy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Jalin and their daughters, Clara & Emma, of Santa Paula, CA; her daughter and son-in-law, Jenny & Jason Blachford of Watertown; a brother and sister in CA; and other relatives scattered around the U.S.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Gene in 2003, and her parents and step-parents.
