Obituary for Nicolas Joseph "Nick" Endres

Nicolas "Nick" J. Endres, age 79, of Watertown, SD, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Jenkins Living Center.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2020 at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Watertown with Pastor Paul Janke officiating. Karen Livingston will be the organist.

Nick's funeral services will be live streamed by St. Martin's Lutheran Church, www.stmartinschurch.com.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.

Burial will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Rauville, SD.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Nick's grandchildren: Samantha Ochsendorf, Ben Brandsrud, Abigail Jordan, Carolyn Endres, Hope Horack, Jayme, Erica and Ryder Juntunen, Colton, Jordan, Dylan, Kory, Katelyn, Allison and Wyatt Endres, and Aria and Trinity Nelson.

Active Pallbearers will be Doug and Leon Maag, Jim Czech, Greg Endres and Dan Endres, and Mark Kienast.

Nicolas Joseph Endres was born on August 10, 1941 to Albert and Loretta (Haan) Endres in Watertown, SD, where he grew up and attended school.

Nick married Karen Lorraine Stein on February 16, 1963 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. They lived on a farm north of Watertown where they farmed and raised eight children. Nick served for four years in the South Dakota Army National Guard. He also worked for the Codington County Weed and Pest Department for a number of years. Nick farmed all his life and retired from farming in 2003.

He was a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church where he served on a variety of church committees over the years. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, and being a full time grandpa. He also enjoyed working on his old Ford Tractors.

Nick is survived by his children, Lorie Endres (Tom Olson) and David Endres of Watertown, Ann Endres of LaCrosse, WI, Colleen (Dave) Juntunen of Bryant, Mike Endres of Florence, Pat Endres, Nicholas P. (Doreen) Endres and Kathryn (Lee) Nelson all of Watertown; 17 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; his siblings, Mary (Mac) McKibben of Veradale, WA, Pat (Lynford) Maag, Bob (Janet) Endres, Maxine (Marv) Czech and Barb Kienast all of Watertown, Katie Carter (Ted) of Sioux Falls, and Bill (Pam) Endres of Watertown; his sisters-in-law, Maxine Endres and Barb Endres of Watertown; a brother-in-law, Jerry Zuffa of California; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Loretta; his wife, Karen; his brothers, Jim and Tom Endres; his sister, Ann Zuffa; and his brothers-in-law, Cecil Kienast and Vern Clausen.
